The Private Coffee Shop – Atmosphere and Aroma

Look…I like hanging out at the local ‘Bucks with a group of friends as much as the next guy (even if I am not a huge fan of their roasts…the mixed lattes and espresso is ok though), but there is something about the atmosphere of a privately owned coffee shop or roaster that is incredibly appealing and inviting.

Private Coffee Shop and Roasters

The feeling…the atmosphere…the aroma of the fresh beans…all of it has a leg up on any commercialized coffee “store”. When you step into a private shop, you are dealing with passion instead of employees. The entire attitude changes as you can taste the love that goes into each cup. Are they as readily available as the mainstream coffee shops? No…but they bring in a personality and taste that is all their own.

During this holiday season, get out and enjoy one of your local shops. You never know…you might stumble upon your next favorite blend or atmosphere.

Have you been over to The Coffee Pot yet? It just opened in downtown Alpharetta. I like what they’re trying to do, but I’m not sure it has the right atmosphere (i.e. it’s not at all like your photo above).

I was a huge fan of the Village Veranda back when it was open. Coffee, ice cream, good food. It was more than your average coffee house, but kept a coffee house attitude.

I’ll have to check that out today. Thanks for the heads up! I have always said that Alpharetta could use a private shop to offset all the mass produced stuff.

Starbucks are convenient, but some of my favorite coffee shops are the locally owned and independent ones. I’m even taking some time this week to go check some out while I’m away from home this week.

    This one is my favorite.

It’s in an odd little community in the high desert of SoCal by the name of Yucca Valley. YC is en route to Joshua Tree National Park from Los Angeles. If you are heading to J-Tree for an outdoor getaway (I highly recommend it) then try this place.

They have a great vibe going on. Everyone here is uber-cool with a totally great attitude. The coffee and pastries are great. They have poetry and bands that reinforce the vibe. Nearby is a place called Pioneertown where a LOT of a-list Hollywood and rocker celebs have remote getaways. Who knows who you might see at Water Canyon!
