Starbucks Coffee Review: Dark Cherry Mocha

Ok…I admit it. From time to time, I stop by the local Starbucks on my way home or on my way to a mountain bike ride in the morning. They are convenient and the mixed drinks are pretty good. I never go there to partake in a rich cup of black coffee…but I do like to drop a mortgage payment on a mocha or two every now and then.

Starbucks Dark Cherry Mocha

Last Sunday, I racked up two mountain bikes and was ready to hit the trail. I had my usual french pressed greatness at home that morning, but I was still in the mood to satisfy my coffee craving/addiction/obsession. I stopped by the local ‘Bucks and found something new on the menu.

Starbucks: Dark Cherry Mocha

Interesting. After some conversation with the nice girl behind the counter, I came to find out that the Dark Cherry Mocha tastes a lot like chocolate covered cherries. Those that know me…already know my obsession with chocolate covered cherries is strong. So strong in fact that a complete box can not live in my house for longer than 15 minutes without me curled up in a corner with chocolate on my finger tips and ripped up cardboard surrounding my shaking body (ok…a little dramatic but you get the point).

So…given this obsession with all things chocolate cover cherry related…I had to try out this new Dark Cherry Mocha from Starbucks. It is basically a mocha with their dark cherry sauce mixed in, but it seriously tastes like a Cella’s chocolate covered cherry!

It’s insanity…liquid chocolate covered cherries…and it works. I actually took my wife over and said, “you have to try this.” And that does not come out of my mouth very often about Starbucks.

Anyways…if you like chocolate covered cherries and you like mochas…check out the new Dark Cherry Mocha at Starbucks. It’s an interesting taste test.

My morning brew is an Americano – Espresso and water, strong and bitter. You won’t find me drinking Frappuccinos or some other super-sweet Starbucks concoction. Usually, anyway.

What I really liked about their new Dark Cherry Mocha was that it wasn’t as super-sweet as I expected it to be. You’re right; it tasted just like a chocolate covered cherry, but not to the point of sugar excess. I was impressed. I think Starbucks found themselves a new winning beverage.

I was pretty glad that it wasn’t super sweet too.

Not tried this out yet, but it sounds like it is worth swinging by a store and checking it out.

      It’s worth trying for sure.

I’m very jealous, I’ve tried every Starbucks in the area for the dark cherry mocha and the ones here don’t release it until Tuesday.
