Daily Coffee vs. Nice Coffee

I have my coffee roped off into two distinct categories. There is my everyday when I wake up in the morning brew that typically doesn’t break the bank in my quest for sunrise aroma and there is my “break out the fine china” special occasion beans that are ground for that specific time and place. For many coffee connoisseurs…they may not want to cheapen up the coffee experience by partaking in a sub par roasting moment, but I find that – by using an everyday blend – I enjoy my boutique beans that much more.

What Is My Everyday Blend?

Dunkin Donuts Coffee

I use the Dunkin’ Donuts original blend as my coffee of choice in the morning. While some may think that even this is not an economical choice for general coffee consumption, when you pick up a huge bag like the one pictured from membership store like Costco…the cost is reduced dramatically. What you are left with is a decent coffee taste every morning…and that is much better than buying Folgers or some other can of mass produced, 4 bucks for a months worth coffee.

And yes…that is even a Dunkin’ Donuts to-go cup in the background. What can I say…it works!

Hi Rob. I love coffee and think that having a different coffee for every time of the day is…interesting if not obsessive..lol but I know what you mean. I discovered hazelnut coffee beans this year and they are AMAZING. I’d have to say they are special, so I’d probably save them for visitors…then again…why share?

I am a little OCD at times! With as much coffee as I take in during the beginning hours of the day…it would start to get ultra expensive to use boutique blends on a daily basis.

You know how I feel about Dunkin Donuts, but I’ll say I used to love their French Vanilla ground coffee.

The success of your coffee blog has you spoiled! (in a good way) Nothing can really replace the taste of quality, boutique coffee’s. Any recommendations on another “everyday” blend?

Eight o’clock coffee is generally good and they tend to go on sale buy one get one free pretty often.

There are a lot of boutique brands that are priced about the same as coffee that you can find in grocery stores, but the shipping is where it hurts. However, I tend to think it’s worth it.

        Hi Rob
Have you heard about OrganoGold healthy coffee, made possible because of the infusion of Ganoderma the herb known as “the king of herbs”
        Great stuff!!
        Check my site & google.com – Ganoderma

Ah, what’s this? Yet another Robb Sutton blog that I’m going to have to subscribe to? Busy man!

I didn’t realize you were such a coffee addict. I’ll be curious to read your requisite post on the horrors of Starbucks in the near future!

HAHA! Yeah…Starbucks is no longer good coffee. Their flavored drinks are ok and they are incredibly convenient…but the taste of their coffee is burnt.

    Hi Rob,
Our everyday coffee at the hospital is horrible. The RN’s and I are looking for a holiday coffee to spruce things up a bit. Working a 12 hour night shift we drink a lot of coffee. What do you think would be an inexpensive holiday coffee we could use? We don’t want the extra calories from creamers and we like peppermint. Thanks!

    • Robb Sutton 14 December 2009 at 9:53 am #

      Beth,

Thanks for stopping by! I would check your local grocery store and see if they are running any specials if you are looking for something for the hospital. Any buy one get one free deals on holiday blends would be better than what you are drinking now.

What the heck, Robb? You’re going to need all that coffee to keep all these blogs going. Alas, I don’t drink coffee at all but just thought I’d stop by and say “Hi” and look at more pictures of your dogs:)

If you start a blog about Diet Coke, let me know!

What do you think fuels all of the productivity?! I am a Diet Coke junkie too…nothing better than a big bacon cheeseburger and a couple of DC’s.

    HI Robb, love your blog.
Like you, I have my everyday coffee. (see website) Well not everyday – i drink maybe 4x or 5x a week – because i made a resolution to pay attention to what i drink, nutrition-wise.

And then i also drink my other favorites. Right now, it’s Christmas Tradition by??? bought it at a local store.

    Nice to meet you!

I just found this blog, can’t say what I think of it yet as this is the first post I’ve read. But if it’s coffee related, it can’t be bad. :-)

As for “daily vs nice”, I completely don’t get it. My daily coffee is _nice_ :-) The only time I’ll drink bad coffee is when I’ve run out of the good stuff. (happens way to often for my liking).

Tip: Save your el-cheapo coffee for your visitors and keep the good stuff for yourself.

Daily coffee (as I just said elsewhere), is 8 o’clock (the red bag).

When I get the chance, I like as my “nice” coffee, Baby’s Coffee from Key West, FL.

I LOVE Starbucks coffee, and I would really enjoy having it everyday. We have a Sam’s Club that sells the big bags, too. Problem is, my wife can drink as much as I do in the mornings, and my children are starting to pick up the habit, too. So, I can go through a bag within a week and a half.

What do you think of Yuban coffee? Have you ever tried it?
