Coffee Rituals and Coffee Life

Coffee NewspaperDo you have certain activities that just can’t go without a cup of coffee? Every morning, I wake up…drag myself out of bed nice and early…and the first thing I do is french press a freshly grounded roast of coffee.

Every morning starts the same way as I stumble with crust infused eyes to that refreshing smell on a daily basis (I guess there is something to those Folders commercials after all).

A fantastic, hot cup of this brown liquid that causes the obsession starts my day off on the right foot as I get ready to take on the world. Without it…my morning starts with no direction.

After my morning wake up with a cup of enlightenment, I use coffee throughout the day to socialize with friends, relax by myself and enjoy being outside on a brisk spring day. Coffee indulgence can even carry into the night time hours as my wife and I enjoy some alone time or we our out to dinner with friends. The aroma of the freshly ground bean seems to follow my movements throughout the day to compliment certain activities and social atmospheres. It is not just a cup of coffee…it is a way to enjoy life…one cup at a time.

What About You?

What do you use coffee for throughout the day? Can’t read your morning paper without it? Have a meeting place or local gathering at a coffee shop throughout the week?

Similar routine here – my husband sets up coffee pot at night before bed, sets timer to make coffee at 7. I typically don’t have my first weekday cup until I am dressed and heading out the door to drop the kids off. Weekends are a whole-nother animal! LOL

My favorite though – is the coffee klatch I have with three friends/neighbors once in a while. When our schedules permit – we gather at one of our homes, brew a pot of coffee, serve some snacks and catch-up. A truly civilized way to start the day.

Ditto: Coffee before all else in the morning and the press is the only way to fly.

I also must, I repeat, must have a cup of coffee in my hand when going into a meeting at the office. It’s like a security blanket.

And my last cup of the day after dinner a nice demitasse from my stovetop expresso pot. Killer.

I don’t know if it’s the tactile sensation of having a cup of coffee in my hand, but most of my day I spend with a cup of coffee (sometimes tea) in my hand. These days, it starts with the same visit to the same Starbucks at Cumberland (Cobb Pkwy). By midday I’ve moved onto a pot of pressed something or other.

Oh, and run to Starbucks for a double shot of espresso before a ride is always a great ritual.
